Caleb Connor called it "'indescribable," recalling arriving to fight a fire in his own home.
"It was weird. I got here and I immediately dropped to the ground," Connor told WAOW News. "And I wanted to go in, but, fire chief and assistant chief said "'nope'". Which is probably a good thing."
The decision to keep Caleb away was one made to protect him from himself.
Fire Chief Luke Bravener knew Connor had a wife, a son and three pets, and was afraid that he would rush in a desperate attempt to find them.
Thankfully, his wife and son were not home when the fire occurred. Unfortunately, all three pets were killed.
